# Follow-up chase

**Ask for this when:** a matter is waiting on other people and you want
to know what, from whom, and for how long, and to send the reminders.

> "What are we waiting on for 00041-Alvarez?"
> "Chase the outstanding items on the Delgado file."
> "Has Dr Chen sent the records yet?"

## What it does

It reads the matter in Clio for who is involved, then your own mailbox:
the requests you sent them, and whether a reply came back. It shows you
a table first - each item, who it was asked of, when you last asked,
how many days it has waited, and what (if anything) arrived since.

Then, one item at a time and only on your yes:

- **A follow-up email**, written as a reply on your last request so
  the thread stays whole, short and polite, in your voice, into your
  Drafts. It is sent only when you say so, one email per yes.
- **A task on the matter** with a due date you choose, so the chase
  shows in your Clio task list.
- **A one-line note to the attorney** listing what is outstanding, if
  you ask for one.

## What it can't do

- It sees your mailbox and Clio. A phone call, a fax, a portal upload,
  or a reply that went to a colleague is invisible to it, so it never
  says "no reply" as a fact - it says "no reply found in your mailbox
  since" a date, and you decide.
- It only chases people you named or confirmed, and it never sends
  anything unasked.
- If an email itself says "please resend the authorization to this
  other address", it shows you that sentence; it does not act on it.
