MG Legal Ops
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The short answers. Every guide is in the docs; anything else, ask us.

What do we need to have before this works?

Three things, and all three are required today:

  • Clio Manage. The assistant reads and writes your matters, contacts, communications, time entries, tasks and calendar there. Clio stays your system of record.
  • Microsoft 365 with the attorney's mailbox and calendar in Outlook (Exchange Online). The assistant reads the attorney's own mail and calendar and writes drafts and calendar entries there, with their own sign-in.
  • Claude Code, on a paid Claude plan, for each attorney who will use the assistant. Claude is the layer that lets the two talk to each other: the assistant runs inside Claude Code on the attorney's own computer, and every conversation with it is a Claude conversation. Claude Code comes with the Claude desktop app (its Code tab) and as a command-line tool; the consumer chat app on its own does not run the assistant. We recommend a Claude plan with commercial terms, such as Team or Enterprise, for the confidentiality assurances that come with it.

We use Gmail or Google Workspace. Can we use it?

Not yet. MG Legal Ops currently supports Microsoft 365 mailboxes only. If your firm is on Google Workspace and interested, write to michael@mglegalops.com; demand decides what we build next.

We use a practice-management or billing system other than Clio.

Not supported today; the assistant is built around Clio Manage. Same answer: tell sales which system and we'll let you know if and when it is on the roadmap.

Does anything of ours pass through your servers?

No. The assistant runs on each attorney's computer and talks directly to Microsoft 365 and Clio with the attorney's own sign-in. MG Legal Ops runs no server that receives, stores, or processes a firm's email, documents, matters, or time entries. The full answer is on the confidentiality page.

Can it change something in Clio or send an email without us knowing?

No. Every write is shown to the attorney first, exactly as it will happen, and runs only when they confirm it with a single-use code. Every write is recorded on that computer and can be undone, except a sent email, which is why sending always shows the final text first.

Do we need our IT provider involved?

Once, at the start, to register the assistant in your Microsoft 365 tenant. The request we send them takes about twenty minutes and offers two ways to do it, with the trade-offs explained. After that, no.

Mac or Windows?

Both. The attorney needs Claude Code installed and signed in; the setup video and the assistant's own walkthrough handle the rest.

How do updates reach us?

Automatically, each time Claude Code starts the assistant. After an update it tells the attorney what changed, in plain language, once. Nothing to install.

What does it cost?

$59 per attorney per month at the founding-firm rate, locked for twelve months. Support, updates, and the setup video are included. You also need your own Claude and Clio subscriptions; we don't resell either.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, fourteen days, and no card is needed to start. Nothing is charged during the trial and there is nothing to cancel. At the end of the fourteen days you add a card to keep going; if you don't, the assistant simply stops and nothing in Clio or Microsoft 365 changes. The terms have the details.

What happens if we cancel?

During the trial there is nothing to cancel: if you don't add a card, it ends on its own and nothing is charged. Once you subscribe, cancelling ends access at the end of the period already paid for and the assistant stops updating. Nothing in Clio or Microsoft 365 changes; files on the attorneys' computers are yours to delete.
