Nothing leaves anyone's machine except the normal traffic to Outlook and Clio they already generate. Here is the whole path from "interested" to the first morning brief, the same for an attorney, a paralegal or anyone else at the firm.
The four steps
- Open a folder in Claude Code and say "set up the assistant." Claude installs what it needs and walks the person through it, about fifteen minutes. A short video shows the whole thing; nobody needs to schedule anything.
- Sign in to Microsoft and Clio, once. With each person's own logins. The assistant sees only what they can see, and never acts as anyone else.
- Ask for the morning brief. A paralegal's opens with what is due; an attorney's with the calendar and billing. From then on it is a conversation. Every action is shown first, exactly as it will happen, and runs only on a yes.
- It keeps itself current. Improvements arrive automatically each time Claude Code starts it, and the assistant tells you what changed, once, in plain language (what's new keeps the list).
What your firm needs before it starts
Three things, and all three are required today.
Clio Manage
The assistant reads and writes your matters, contacts, communications, time entries, tasks and calendar there. Clio stays your system of record. Each person approves the assistant with their own Clio login the first time; no administrator step, nothing to register.
Microsoft 365
With each person's mailbox and calendar in Outlook (Exchange Online). Your IT provider or Microsoft 365 administrator approves the assistant once, with one link; about two minutes, nothing to register, no secret, then never again.
Claude Code
On a paid Claude plan, for each person who will use it, attorney or paralegal. It comes with the Claude desktop app and as a command-line tool; the consumer chat app alone does not run the assistant. A plan with commercial terms, such as Team or Enterprise, is recommended.
Not supported today: Gmail or Google Workspace mailboxes, and practice-management systems other than Clio. Tell us which you use; demand decides what we build next.
On each person's computer
Mac or Windows.
Each person, attorney or paralegal, needs Claude Code installed and signed in; the setup walkthrough and the assistant handle the rest.
Their permissions, only theirs.
It signs in with delegated permissions: it can see and do only what that person can. No firm-wide access, no shared credentials.
Everything written is logged, and undoable.
Each write is recorded on that computer. "Undo that" removes what the assistant created, and only that.
Nothing of yours passes through us.
